History

Few mountains in the world reflect quite the grandeur and mystique of Mt. Shasta, and to play golf under its gaze guarantees an experience like no other. Mount Shasta resort sits at 3,500 feet elevation in the Cascade Mountain Range, but the even more impressive number is the 14,180 feet at which the snow-capped Mt. Shasta peak towers over the surrounding terrain. Its majesty draws outdoor adventurers and mere gawkers from around the world, and since the golf course?s construction in 1992, now beckons golfers, too. The 6,035-yard, par-70 layout was designed by Jim Summers and Sandy Tatum. Alpine trees and views are equally abundant, with undulating greens and three tee options offering plentiful challenge. Lodgings range from variously sized luxury privatenchalets to hotel style rooms, all of them sumptuously appointed and paired with play-and-stay packages that maximize affordability. Also not to be missed: the luxuriously pampering Sacred Mountain Day Spa. The lovely Highland House restaurant and lounge completes the package in this idyllic setting that will make leaving difficult, but all the more reason to return again. Learn more
