History

The ageless beauty of Del Monte Golf Course and the Monterey Peninsula have been attracting players from around the world since 1897. A sensational, challenging layout continues to bring many of these golfers back for repeat visits. Part of the famed Pebble Beach Company family of golf courses, Del Monte is the oldest course in continuous operation west of the Mississippi and was recently rated by Golf Digest in the top five golf courses over 100 years old. Its 6,365-yard layout (back tees) features narrow, tree-lined fairways, well-protected greens, and enough elevation changes to challenge every aspect of your game. Plentiful Monterey pine and live oak trees line the course. Two 500+ yard par-5s serve as bookends at holes 1 and 9, but No. 7 is probably more challenging: a 380-yard par-4 with a three-tiered green and potential trouble from tee shot to cup. Del Monte has hosted the California State Amateur since the tournament's inauguration in 1912, is one of three host courses for the Pebble Beach Invitational and now co-hosts the Champions Tour Wal-Mart First Tee Open.
