History
For some people, it's the endless expanse of blue ocean that keeps them heading to The Sea Ranch Golf Links at the far northern tip of Sonoma County. Others are drawn by sublime displays of light that even coastal natives never take for granted. And then there's the plain great golf available at this classic Scottish-links course designed by Robert Muir Graves. With the churning Pacific dominating the west side and wetlands dotting the rest of the course, nature plays a starring role at Sea Ranch. If you're to be more than a bit player, you'll have to show discipline on holes like the 501-yard, par-5 No. 13th, or the par-5 No. 6th with a dogleg around a marsh and a pond. With not a cheap view or hole to be had, Sea Ranch is a marvelous walking coursejust the tonic for city dwellers needing to stretch their muscles and minds on a long and glorious afternoon.
