History

Venerable," "fabulous," "breathtaking," "classic" go through all the superlatives in the dictionary and you still won't do justice to the actual experience of playing at Pasatiempo Golf Club in Santa Cruz. Inspired and developed by pioneer woman's entrepreneur and golf champion Marion Hollins, Pasatiempo debuted in 1929, with none other than Bobby Jones and Hollins among the first to tee off. Legendary designer Alister MacKenzie used the rolling coastal hills and their ample foundation of sand to create this masterpiece overlooking Monterey Bay. (He considered it his favorite layout, and proceeded to make his home there bordering the sixth fairway.) Weighing in at No. 31 on Golf Digest's "America's Greatest Public Courses 2005," Pasatiempo has stood the test of time and earned countless raves from pros and weekend hackers alike.
